Android users, WhatsApp may soon let you keep disappearing messages – Times of India

Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly working on a ‘kept messages’ feature that will allow users to either keep or undo a text message.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, users will be able to keep a disappearing message to prevent it from expiration.
What is the disappearing messages feature
Disappearing messages, as the title reads, disappear once the message has been read by the user. But, not anymore, once the ‘kept messages’ feature completely rolls out, users will be able to keep the disappearing message before

WhatsApp users running Android operating systems need to note that, “this feature is under development, so it is not ready to be released to beta users”.
How will this feature work
WhatsApp users will be able to save a disappearing text or undo a kept message by viewing the message option. However, if a user undoes a text message, that message will be automatically deleted for everyone that will not be able to recover it in future.
The WhatsApp beta update bearing the 2.23.1.11 version will be initially rolled out to Android users. There is no word whether the update will be rolled out to iOS users or not.
WhatsApp Recent groups feature
WhatsApp has also started rolling out a new feature – ‘Recent groups’ — which allows users to search groups by entering the name of the contact. As of now, the feature is available on the desktop version.
WABetaInfo earlier reported, the feature has reportedly started rolling out to a few users after installing the WhatsApp desktop update.
With this feature, users will be able to get a list of all the recent groups in common with a contact by entering their name within the search bar. It will be beneficial for users who have joined many groups and do not remember the name of the group.
