apple: Apple has made another product ‘vintage’ – Times of India
Tech giant Apple has made a new addition to its vintage and obsolete list of products. The latest product to join the vintage list is the first Apple Watch which came out in 2015, with the 38mm and 42mm models being declared as ‘vintage’. This is the first time an Apple Watch has been included in the vintage list. Apple adds devices which it stopped selling more than five years ago and less than seven years ago to the list.
For most of the vintage list products, it means that they won’t be eligible for repairs at the Genius Bar in Apple retail stores or from Apple Authorized Service Providers. The company, however, does offer extended repairs for select vintage products.
Two years more and the first-ever Apple Watch would enter the obsolete list. The tech giant has been releasing a new Apple Watch every year after the Series 1 Apple Watch in April 2015 and the Series 2 upgrade in 2016. The latest model is the Apple Watch Series 7, which is set to hit the stores by mid-October this year if go by the rumours.
The Apple Watch Series 7 would launch in 41mm and 45mm sizes and it comes with a bigger display (20% more screen area) than that of the Apple Watch Series 6. It has also got 40% thinner borders than its predecessor. Apple claims that the Watch Series 7 can go on for 18 hours on a single charge and can charge 33% faster than the Apple Watch Series 6 with the help of a new charging architecture and Magnetic Fast Charger USB-C Cable.
