apple: Apple iPhone launch event: Apple may launch AirPods 3 today – Times of India

Apple is set to unveil the new iPhone 13 series at its event starting at 10.30 PM IST today and reveal other gadgets too. While the event is so close, we have another report by reliable tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (seen by 9To5Mac) in which he claims that the tech giant will introduce the new ‘AirPods 3’ to the world today, and will not discontinue the current generation AirPods, deciding on to keep selling the version.
If this happens, the prices of the previous-gen AirPods may plummet, which is still good news for those looking to own the true wireless earbuds. It may also mean that the AirPods 3 would be launched at a higher price point than its predecessor, which would warrant something exceptional from Apple in the new earbuds to pique the interest of the audiophiles amongst the customers since rumours say they will not have Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).
The AirPods 3 are expected to feature shorter stems while retaining the design elements of the current-generation AirPods Pro. While they might not launch with ANC, they could come with support for the Spatial Audio, which would count as a plus for Apple users as not many devices and headphones can support the format. But is Spatial Audio support going to be enough to justify a hike in price? Another few hours and we should know.
Kuo is also optimistic about the fate of the AirPods 3, predicting that the sale of Apple’s true wireless earbuds is going to jump by 10-15% year-over-year in Q1 next year.
