apple: Apple Music subscription price hiked in India and other countries for students – Times of India

Apple has increased the price of the Apple Music subscription for students in India and a few other countries. After the price hike, the Apple Music student subscription costs Rs 59 per month. Earlier, the Apple Music subscription for students was priced at Rs 49 per month. The company is reportedly informing students who subscribed to Apple Music about the price increase via email.
The price has also been updated on the official website and Apple Music app, which shows the subscription charges as Rs 59 per month, marking around a 20 per cent increase in the price.
The price increase is just not limited to India, as Macrumors notes that the subscription charges for students have been increased in other countries as well. Some of the regions where the subscription charges for Apple Music students subscription have been increased are Australia, Indonesia, Israel, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, and the Philippines.
A student on Twitter shared the snippet of the mail from Apple informing about the recent price changes for Apple Music subscription. The email reads, “Thank you for subscribing to ‌Apple Music‌. We wanted to let you know about an upcoming change to this subscription,” reads an email from Apple to ‌Apple Music‌ student subscribers. “Apple is raising the price of this subscription from USD 1.49 per month to USD 1.99 per month.”
Do note that users need a valid student ID or email address to avail of the student subscription pricing of Rs 59 per month. Or users can go ahead with the Individual plan, which still costs Rs 99 per month. Meanwhile, users can opt for the Family plan for Rs 149 and add up to six people to the plan.
