apple: Apple sold the most 5G smartphones in the world in Q3 2021: Report
Tech giant Apple sold the most 5G-enabled smartphones worldwide in the third quarter of 2021, as per a report by Strategy Analytics. As for the others, Xiaomi, Samsung, and Oppo shipped the most 5G-enabled Android smartphones in Q3 2021, says the report.
When it comes to most 5G phones sold globally, the firm close behind Apple was Xiaomi though the report also adds that the Chinese company’s year-over-year growth stalled in Q3 2021. Samsung, on the other hand, saw some growth in the same quarter, mostly benefiting from the Europe region, while Oppo also saw growth in China. “Samsung’s resurgence blunted Xiaomi’s ability to grow in Europe in Q3 2021, while OPPO surged in China. Facing a combined one-two punch from Samsung outside of China and OPPO in China, Xiaomi saw demand for its 5G smartphones slow considerably in Q3 2021.”, said Ken Hyers, Director at Strategy Analytics, in the report.
Also, Samsung secured second place after Xiaomi to become the second-leading 5G Android smartphone vendor in Q3 2021, beating Oppo to third place. The South Korean tech giant reportedly owes its success primarily to its three devices: the foldable Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, the Galaxy S21 Ultra and the affordable A-Series smartphones.
Honor was the brand that grew the fastest QoQ with its 50 5G, 50 SE 5G and 50 Pro 5G being the leading smartphones in Q3 2021, said the report.
