Apple hikes prices of Apple Music, Apple One and Apple TV+, India prices remain the same – Times of India
Why the move to increase prices?
Apple has hiked prices of few of its products recently in India. For instance, all the iPad models now cost more in India. The same goes for almost every Apple Watch band. In a statement to 9to5Mac, an Apple spokesperson did explain why the prices were hiked. “The change to Apple Music is due to an increase in licensing costs, and in turn, artists and songwriters will earn more for the streaming of their music. We also continue to add innovative features that make Apple Music the world’s best listening experience,” the Apple spokesperson told 9to5Mac.
On Apple TV+, the spokesperson said, “We introduced Apple TV+ at a very low price because we started with just a few shows and movies. Three years later, Apple TV+ is home to an extensive selection of award-winning and broadly acclaimed series, feature films, documentaries, and kids and family entertainment from the world’s most creative storytellers.”
What are the new prices?
In the US, the price hike hasn’t been that substantial as it is somewhere around $1-3. For instance, Apple Music’s individual plan now costs $10.99 and family plan costs $16.99. Both plans now cost $1 and $2 more. Apple TV+, on the other hand, now costs $6.99 per month in the US.
It remains to be seen whether Apple will continue to offer old prices for its popular subscription services in India or hike them at a later date.
