Apple increases the cost of battery replacement for older iPhone models

Apple is planning to increase the cost of battery replacement for iPhone 13 and older iPhone models. The company is planning to make changes in the cost of battery replacement by the end of February, 2023.
The Cupertino-based tech giant has revealed that it is planning to increase the cost by $20 (Rs 2,000). However, the AppleCare+ members can get their iPhone batteries replaced at no additional cost if the battery shows less than 80 percent of its original capacity.
“The current out-of-warranty battery service fee will apply until the end of February 2023. Effective March 1, 2023, the out-of-warranty battery service fee will be increased by $20 for all iPhone models prior to iPhone 14,” said the company on its support page.

Presently, Apple charges $69 for the battery replacement of out-of-warranty iPhone 13, iPhone 12, iPhone 11, and iPhone X. On the other hand, the iPhone SE, iPhone 8 and other models cost $49.

Apple adds iPad Mini model in obsolete product list
Apple has officially added the iPad Mini in the obsolete product category. The company has marked both the WiFi and cellular models of the third generation iPad mini as obsolete. This also means that the iPad mini model will no longer be eligible for repairs as the service providers will not be able to order parts for the device.
For the uninitiated, Apple launched the iPad mini model in 2014 along with the second-generation iPad Air. The third-generation iPad mini is powered by Apple’s own A7 chipset and it comes with Touch ID embedded in the home button.
