Apple iPhone 13 trial production in India reportedly begins | 91mobiles.com

The ET report says that Apple expects to export around 20-30 per cent of iPhone 13 units manufactured in India to other parts of the globe, further eradicating the supply shortage in India and other markets. The report further states that the Cupertino giant has no plans to manufacture the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max in India.

Currently, Apple manufactures iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 in Foxconn’s plant, while iPhone SE 2 is produced at the Wistron plant in Bangalore. If estimates are to be believed, then Apple produces almost 70% of the iPhones selling in India within the country itself. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 contribute a lot to Apple’s earnings from India; meanwhile, iPhone 13 is one of the best selling members of the iPhone 13 series in India.

“A lot of local production scaling up will depend on component availability,” said Navkendar Singh, India Director, IDC. He further added, “The local production of iPhone 13 in India may ease a bit the low supplies in the country.”

Apple has been doing great in India for the past few years. In 2021-2022, Apple registered a 68 per cent increase in its operations revenue in India to Rs 22,845 crore. Meanwhile, the Cupertino giant recorded a profit of Rs 1,226 crore in its recent regulatory filing.
