Apple iPhone 14 Max tipped to sport 120Hz OLED display from LG

Recently, we saw reports suggesting that LG Display will supply low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin-film transistor (TFT) OLED panels for Apple‘s iPhone 14 series. Now, a report by PhoneArena hints that the display of Apple iPhone 14 Max variants will likely have a refresh rate of 120Hz. For those who don’t know, the upcoming Apple flagship series is rumoured to have four models – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The tech giant is rumoured to phase out the ‘mini’ model in the lineup as the form factor was not able to create the desired response from the buyers.
The iPhone 14 Max is rumoured to be a more affordable alternative of the iPhone 14 Pro Max with the same 6.7-inch display. The device is said to miss out on the additional features as the Pro models in the lineup.
Although Apple is not known to reveal the plans related to upcoming devices, its suppliers often hint at what users can expect. As per previous reports by TheElec and Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company may remove the notch from the Pro models of the iPhone 14 series. The reports further suggest that the company is planning to use a punch hole camera at the front of the devices. The smartphones are also said to feature triple rear camera setup with a 48MP Wide lens, 12MP Ultra Wide and Telephoto lenses.
Analyst Jeff Pu in a research note with Haitong International Securities predicts that the Apple iPhone 14 Pro models will feature 8GB of RAM. For context, the iPhone 13 Pro models are equipped with 6GB of RAM. Although the iPhone 13 series devices are available with a base storage option of 128GB, the analyst believes that the iPhone 14 series devices will have a base storage capacity of 64GB.
