Apple iPhone SE 256GB storage variant discontinued in India following iPhone 13 launch | 91mobiles.com

On Tuesday, Apple announced the iPhone 13 series and promptly dropped the prices of older iPhone models in India. The Cupertino giant slashed the prices of iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 12 by up to Rs 14,000, making them more affordable than before. Meanwhile, the company discontinued the iPhone XR, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max models in the country. Interestingly, Apple seems to have also discontinued the iPhone SE 256GB storage model in India. Before the iPhone 13 series launch, the affordable iPhone SE was available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage variants, but now there’s no sight of the 256GB storage variant on the Apple Store online.

Other than the discontinuation of the 256GB storage variant, there’s no change in the pricing of the iPhone SE. The 64GB storage variant is still retailing for Rs 39,900, and the 128GB model can be bought for Rs 44,900. To recall, the 256GB storage variant of the iPhone SE was previously available for Rs 54,900. You can now get the iPhone 11 128GB variant for this same price.

iPhone SE

According to some previous reports, the Cupertino giant is preparing to launch the third generation of the iPhone SE in the first half of 2022. So, Apple might be slowing down the production of the current-gen model in order to focus on the upcoming iPhone SE 2022. Meanwhile, the discontinuation could also be due to the ongoing global chip shortage. There’s no word from Apple yet, so it’s hard to predict the reason behind the unavailability of the 256GB storage variant of the iPhone SE.

With the introduction of the iPhone 13 series, Apple removed the 64GB storage option from the new iPhone models. Now, the base storage configuration starts at 128GB and goes as high as 1TB for the iPhone 13 Pro models, while the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 Pro max out at 512GB. The iPhone 13 mini starts at Rs 69,900, and the 128GB storage model of the iPhone 13 can be bought at Rs 79,900. Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, cost Rs 1,19,990 and Rs 1,29,900 for their base 128GB storage respectively.
