Apple iPhones may soon adjust your car seats, temperature – Times of India

You may soon be able to control your cars’ climates system, radio, seats, instrument cluster and many more things using your iPhone. This can soon reportedly be possible using CarPlay features in cars. As per a report on Bloomberg, Apple is working on a new technology codenamed ‘IronHeart’ that will allow you to use CarPlay in several other ways apart from just answering calls and playing music.
The technology is still under development and as per the report, IronHeart will require participation from the car manufacturers as well. The report further suggests that the technology may use Apple’s smart home push with HomeKit, with an API that cars access with support for sensor communication and control. Surprisingly, in iOS 15, the company removed several API features from SiriKit that may have helped to control several things in the vehicles.
As BMW is the only major car manufacturer that supports Apple CarKey so far, it is likely that the tech giant will only get limited support and the report also suggests that the technology will require help of manufacturer-provided CarPlay apps that can access extensive control settings.
While the new technology may not be part of long-rumoured electric car strategy, it can boost in-car technology experience of the company. If reports are to be believed, IronHeart technology will be able to adjust things like temperature, humidity readings, speakers, equalizers, tweeters, subwoofers, armrests, speedometer, tachometer, seats, armrests and several others depending on the car and the features it offers.
Apple’s rival Google may be a step behind when it comes to technology like this but it has already closed the gap by partnering up with many major automakers such as Ford, Honda, GM and Polestar for adding Android Automotive as the basis for their UI. While maybe Google is lacking when it comes to the above-mentioned features it also recently added many new features to Android Auto.
