Apple may delay the mini-LED external display for early 2023: What to expect – Times of India

Apple returned to the external monitor market with the release of the Pro Display XDR in 2019. The Cupertino-based tech giant followed it up with the Studio Display, which was launched earlier this year. The company was also rumoured to offer another 27-inch mini-LED external display initially speculated to release in the summer of 2022. However, that didn’t turn out to be accurate and Apple was then expected to unveil the new monitor in October, which also didn’t happen. Now, display industry analyst Ross Young has said that the 27-inch mini-LED external display will come out in the first quarter of 2023 while replying to a tweet by one of his followers.

Apple 27-inch mini-LED external display: What to expect
The difference between Apple’s Pro Display XDR and the 27-inch mini-LED external display is still a mystery. The upcoming external display is expected to cost more than the Pro Display XDR.

The Studio Display offers 5K resolution and starts at Rs 1,59,900 while the Pro Display XDR supports 6K resolution and is available at Rs 4,49,900.
According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the tech giant has delayed the mini-LED external display to 2023 due to “high-cost concerns,” reports 9to5Mac. Apart from this, Mac PCs have also suffered shipping delays due to cost and supply chain issues.
The report also mentions that the upcoming mini-LED display is rumoured to feature a 7K panel which is a higher resolution than what the Pro Display XDR offers.

For reference, the Studio Display has an extra A13 chip for on-device computing while the Pro Display XDR offers 6K resolution and extreme brightness.
