Apple might not release a new iPhone SE in 2023 after all: Here’s why | Digit

Shortly after Apple released the iPhone 14 series with the new A16 Bionic chipset and Dynamic Island on the ‘Pro’ models, rumours about smartphones from the company started to turn up on the internet. While some talk about the iPhone 15 series that is supposed to succeed the iPhone 14 series, others talk about the fourth generation of the iPhone SE. Contrary to previous reports that claimed that the iPhone SE 4 would come out sometime in 2023, new information suggests that the device could come out in 2024.

Here’s why Apple could delay the launch of the iPhone SE 4 to 2024

It makes more sense for Apple to reveal the iPhone SE 4 in 2024, and here’s why. If we look at the iPhone SE launch timeline, the first iPhone SE came out in 2016. After that, Apple released the iPhone SE 2 in 2020, whereas the iPhone SE 3 came out in 2022. Since the company likes to stick to older designs and give its models some time to float in the market, releasing two iPhone SE models consecutively might not be in its best interest.

Additionally, releasing an iPhone SE with relatively modern looks and design will endanger the sales of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 because if that happens, iPhone SE 4 would look like these models and, most likely, perform like them as well.

Currently, the internet seems to be divided on iPhone SE 4’s display. While one group says that the iPhone will feature iPhone XR-like end-to-end display with a large notch on the top, others suggest that Apple could go for a display between 5.7 to 6.1 inches. Even if that is true, the next iPhone SE could look like the discontinued ‘Mini’ version of the iPhone.

Since Apple has decided to stick with A15 Bionic on the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus, there is no reason why the company won’t ship the iPhone SE 4 with the same processor. More details about the iPhone SE 4 should surface in the coming days.
