Apple October event: Apple may not host an event in October to showcase new products, here’s why | – Times of India
In the pre-pandemic world, there were years when Apple hosted back-to-back events in the month of September and October. The pandemic put a stop to that but Apple did host a ‘hybrid’ event in September this year. Hybrid in the sense, it was an in-person event but the keynote was pre-recorded. So there was an anticipation for an Apple event in October as well this year. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has put a dampener on those expectations.
It has been rumoured that Apple could launch the new iPad Pro as well as the redesigned 10th-generation entry-level iPad in October. Speculation is also rife about Apple launching new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models powered by M2 Pro and M2 Max processors.
In his weekly newsletter, Gurman has suggested that “none of these new products is a major departure for Apple.” According to Gurman, the upcoming products will get improved specifications. Plus, the M2 processor was detailed by Apple at WWDC 2022 in June. Gurman believes that Apple may not have “enough” to host an event. He does add that “Apple may ultimately end up feeling differently, but I think the company (as of now) is more likely to release its remaining 2022 products via press releases, updates to its website and briefings with select members of the press—rather than via a major iPhone-style keynote.”
Gurman has a proven track record when it comes to Apple-related news and announcements. So there are chances that Apple may give October event a skip in 2022. But new products can be expected as Apple is yet to roll out macOS Ventura and iPadOS 16 and it has been suggested that the OS updates will arrive with new products. It is unlikely that Apple will delay the OS rollout further than October.
