Apple has rolled out a fix for the audio issue the Studio Display is reportedly having, with its updated version of the firmware for the monitor. The fix comes in the form of the Studio Display Firmware Update 15.5 (19F80) which “resolves an audio issue with Studio Display” and “requires macOS Monterey 12.4 or later”, Apple noted on its support page.
The tech giant recently admitted that there could be audio-related issues with the Studio Display, as per an earlier report by MacRumors, based on a memo by Apple to authorised service providers. According to the report, Studio Display owners faced issues like “sound unexpectedly and abruptly cutting out, audio playing at a high speed, distorted audio quality, and choppy playback.” The issue seems to be “relatively widespread” affecting hundreds of customers, added the report. Several users took to Twitter to complain about the audio problems.
Before it had the software update ready, Apple had asked the Studio Display users plagued with the audio issue to “unplug the Studio Display from power, unplug any accessories or devices connected to the display, wait ten seconds, then reconnect the Studio Display to power.”
The firmware update 15.5 (19F80) should hopefully fix the audio problems the Studio Display is having.
The latest update comes after the Studio Display Firmware Update 15.5 (19F77) which refined camera tuning with improvement in noise reduction, contrast, and framing and also came with minor stability improvements, as claimed by the company.
