apple: These new features are coming soon to iPhones

Apple released the RC or Release Candidate version of iOS 15.2 to developers and beta users. This gives us a good indication of the public version of iOS 15.2 being just around the corner. iOS 15.2 will bring a host of new features to iPhones. Here are some notable ones:

Parts and service history

With iOS 15.2, users will be able to see the service history and what parts of the iPhone have been changed. Users will have to go to Settings > General > About to see the parts and service history of their iPhone. Apple says that users who have iPhone XR, XS, XS Max, and later, including iPhone SE (2nd generation), can see if the battery has been replaced. For iPhone 11 models, iPhone 12 models, and iPhone 13 models, you can see if the battery or display have been replaced. For iPhone 12 models and iPhone 13 models, you can see if the battery, display, or camera have been replaced.

Legacy contact feature

iPhone users will have the option to appoint a legacy contact — a person who can access iCloud data in the event of the user’s death. The feature is expected to come with iOS 15.2 and falls under Digital Legacy programme by Apple. The Digital Legacy programme allows you to designate people as Legacy Contacts so they can access your account and personal information in the event of your death
New app privacy feature
With iOS 15.2, users will see a section in Settings that will let them see how often apps have accessed your location, photos, camera, microphone and contacts during the last seven days. It also shows you which apps have contacted other domains and how recently they have contacted them.
New Siri features
iOS 15.2 will add new features to Siri, including activating Apple Music voice plan.
