Apple to increase App Store prices in multiple countries starting February 13
As per the blog post, the company claims that it periodically prices on the App Store in certain regions “based on changes in taxes and foreign exchange rates”. Apple adds that these adjustments are done using “publicly available exchange rate information from financial data providers”. App Store prices in Uzbekistan are set to decrease as it will reflect a reduction of the value-added tax rate which has gone down from 15% to 12%. The company has also announced that the prices in the App Store won’t change in Ireland, Luxembourg, Singapore and Zimbabwe. However, the proceeds in these countries will be updated to reflect the tax adjustments. Moreover, by the end of January local developers who are selling in Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea, Tajikistan, Thailand and Uzbekistan will also be able to see an increase in proceeds.

The company has also explained how the upgraded pricing capabilities that will be applicable from spring 2023 will help users. These new prices for apps and in-app purchases will offer users 700 more price points and more flexibility to set prices per storefront. This will help users to manage foreign exchange rate changes without depending on the “globally equalised prices”.
