Apple updates AirPods with latest beta firmware, here’s what has changed
Earlier today, Apple started rolling out third-beta update for iOS 16 and iPadOS 16. Along with that, the company also rolled out the latest bete firmware update for AirPods which brings several improvements, changes to Apple’s wireless headphones and earbuds, according to 9to5mac report.
AirPods new beta firmware update: What’s new
Alongside bug fixes and improecments, the update brings enhancements to the automatic switching feature, a new feature called Personalised Spatial Audio and LC3 codec support (click here to read more about LC3 codec).
The Personalised Spatial Audio feature uses iPhone’s TrueDepth camera to create customised profile for Spatial Audio. It creates custom audio preset measuring the ears’ position to offer tailored listening experience.
In addition to that, the update also includes support for the latest Bluetooth Codec – LC3 for AirPods Max. The LC3 codec is a high quality codec which is designed to keep the package smaller without sacrificing on the audio quality.
It is important to note that the firmware update is only available on AirPods 2nd-generation, AirPods 3rd-generation, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max.
Another important things to remember is that to install the beta firmware on AirPods, users will need an iPhone or iPad running iOS 16 or iPadOS 16 beta updates.
As mentioned, Apple has also rolled out the iOS 16 Beta 3 for iPhone and it brings updates and changes to the existing features of the operating system.
