Bill Gates’s everyday smartphone is a Samsung flagship – Times of India

It’s not every day we see one tech giant openly compliment another, so when such an instance of rare courtesy happens, it ends up grabbing the headlines. This time around it’s Microsoft’s co-founder and former CEO Bill Gates who has gone ahead and appreciated Samsung during an Ask-Me-Anything (AMA) session.
Earlier today, Gates took part in an AMA on the popular social platform, Reddit, and answered fans’ questions. In an interesting turn of events, he revealed that his current go-to gadget is Samsung’s latest foldable, Galaxy Z Fold 4. This was surprising for some people who expected he would prefer Microsoft’s own foldable smartphone, Surface Duo.

Praising Samsung’s smartphone, the Microsoft creator said, “The screen size means I don’t use a tablet but just the phone and my portable PC …”
From South Korea with love
Another quite interesting fact Gates shared was that this Galaxy Z Fold 4 was actually gifted to him by none other than Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong. This reportedly happened during the American billionaire’s visit to the Asian country. Moreover, he mentioned it was an upgrade from Galaxy Z Fold 3, meaning this isn’t the first time he has opted to use a Samsung foldable for his daily needs.

A Windows machine is still his choice for desktop and laptop
Besides the foldable smartphone, Gates relies on a Windows desktop PC and Windows laptop for day-to-day requirements. Furthermore, he shared that even though he uses a Samsung smartphone, a chunk of his time is spent using Microsoft software on it, such as Outlook.
Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 is the South Korean tech firm’s most premium foldable offering. It was launched in August 2022, alongside its cousin Galaxy Flip 4 at the Galaxy Unpacked showcase. With another Unpacked showcase taking place later this year, we can expect to see the next iteration of their foldable smartphones, viz Galaxy Z Fold4 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
