BSNL launches IPTV services: What is it, features and more – Times of India

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched its Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) services for its broadband customers. The state-owned telecom service provider has partnered with City Online Media Private Limited to offer IPTV services to its customers. TelecomTalk has reported that the entire IPTV services will be provided under the company’s Ulka TV brand which happened to be owned by City Online Media Private Limited.
BSNL IPTV services: What users will get
As a part of the new IPTV services, the company will be offering over 1000 TV channels with a broadband connection. According to the report, BSNL broadband customers won’t require two different connections for TV and broadband services. The exact list of channels hasn’t been confirmed yet by the company.
What is IPTV
For those who aren’t aware of the terms IPTV aka Intenet Protocol Television, it’s an online service that allows users to stream content including live TV channels on their devices like TV or smartphones. In the case of BSNL, the service will be provided under Ulka TV and it has an app for both TV and smartphone.

BSNL IPTV services: Who are eligible for IPTV services
The report mentions that currently BSNL is rolling out the services in Andhra Pradesh only. A broader rollout is expected to happen in the coming months. Meanwhile, both new and existing customers will be able to avail of the IPTV services from BSNL and City Online Media.
In addition to this, the IPTV services will also be a part of RailTel as it has also partnered with City Online Media to offer IPTV services to its customers. RaiWire users will also get the option to opt for IPTV services from City Online Media.
