BSNL Rs 187 plan explained: is it better than similar plans from Jio, Airtel, and Vi? | 91mobiles.com
BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) had recently revised its Rs 187 prepaid plan in India. The plan now offers 28 days of validity instead of 24 days from earlier and the additional benefits are also revised. The plan is placed right alongside Rs 147, Rs 247, Rs 447, and more recharge plans. The BSNL Rs 187 plan offers unlimited voice calls to any network, including local + STD calls, and national roaming including MTNL network in Mumbai and Delhi. This comes just days after Jio, Airtel and Vi have revised their prepaid offerings in the country and it will take on the Rs 179 prepaid plan.
BSNL Rs 187 prepaid plan benefits
The BSNL Rs 187 prepaid plan offers a validity of 28 days, unlimited calls to any network, 100 SMS per day to any network, and 2GB of data per day. After the 2GB daily data cap is reached, subscribers can continue to use mobile network but the speed is throttled at 80kbps. The BSNL Rs 187 prepaid plan also comes with free PRBT ringtones. The pack can be recharged through BSNL website and third-party applications. Here’s how the plan compares with Jio, Airtel, and Vi’s Rs 179 plan.
Jio Rs 179 prepaid recharge pack: Jio’s Rs 179 offers unlimited calls to any network, 1GB data per day, a 24-day validity, 100 SMS per day. It offers additional access to Jio TV, Jio Cinema, and Jio Cloud platforms as well. The plan offers 24GB of data in total and 2400 SMSes for the entire validity period.
Airtel Rs 179 prepaid recharge pack: Airtel’s Rs 179 prepaid plan offers 2GB data in total, unlimited calls to any network, unlimited voice calls to any network, 300 SMS, free Amazon Prime Video mobile edition subscription for 30 days, free caller tunes, and Wynk Music access. It has a validity of 28 days.
Vi Rs 179 prepaid recharge pack: Vi’s Rs 178 plan offers 28-day validity, 2GB of total data and 300 SMS for the entire plan validity, and unlimited calls to any network. It offers access to Vi Movies & TV Basic.
Conclusion: BSNL offers slightly better benefits such as 56GB of data in total, unlimited calls, 100 SMS per day, and 28 days validity. BSNL betters Jio with almost double the data but the lack of a proper 4G network for the state-led network is still a problem. Unless having a 4G network is a requirement, the BSNL Rs 187 prepaid plan is a good value for money.
