Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 may get a customisable replay feature

Activision officially launched Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 at the end of last month. A new report claims that the latest title in the CoD franchise might get a new feature that will allow players to record and save customisable replay videos as kill cams. A Twitter user named RalphsValve has shared the patent filed by Activision Blizzard (spotted by Comicbook.com) which offers an idea about how the feature would work.

The tweet suggests that the game will let players select between two options — “Play of the Game” or “Final Kill,”– for creating the replay videos. CoD may also support several ways in which players will be able to personalise the clippings. However, it is important to note that all features that are patented by the companies don’t always see the light and Activision is yet to make any official announcement about the new feature.

Modern Warfare 2 kill cam feature: Reactions
The tweets showing the Activision Blizzard patent have received several comments from users across the community. Several users seemed to be excited about the upcoming feature while others were disappointed. Some users pointed out that the latest COD game lacks certain other features that they want the developers to prioritise.

This feature can be one of the strong customisation tools offered by Infinity Ward, but some users want the developer to work on other aspects of the game. Moreover, the tweet doesn’t mention the date when the patent was filed and some users think it is an old one.
If this patent is an older one, it means that Activision and Infinity Ward were considering customisable kill cams at one point and later decided to scrap the feature. However, if it is a new patent, the creators of the game could be developing this feature to include it within an upcoming update or title.
