Activision is set to launch Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on October 28. The game’s publisher has updated its official blog to announce Modern Warfare 2’s post-launch content roadmap.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: Special Ops Raids
The Special Ops missions in the game will get new content called — Raids, which is a co-op mode that will release a few weeks after the game’s launch. Activision has confirmed that “the very first episode of Raids” will begin with the Season 1 Reloaded patch that will be rolled out on December 14. This patch will also include a “legendary multiplayer map” and the first major update for Warzone 2.0.

The game’s publisher has described Raids as “a whole new experience for the franchise”. These Raids will be three-player co-op missions that will involve both intense combat and strategic thinking. However, a pre-season period after the game’s release will be available for players to progress through the Special Ops tier system and level up to unlock weapons, attachments and other items.
Special Ops: Initial release
Special Ops will initially have three missions and all of them will take place in Al Mazrah, which is also the primary region for Warzone 2.0.
The first three missions will be — Bad Situation, Vehicle Escape and Observatory Defense. Bad Situation is a stealth mission while Vehicle Escape will have a destroy and exfiltrate objective. Meanwhile, in Observatory Defense, players will have to defend a location from waves of enemies.

Apart from this, players will also have access to a Backpack for storing equipment and one of three Kits which are — Assault, Medic and Engineer kits. The Assualt Kit increases armour capacity and the Medic Kit helps with quicker revivals, meanwhile the Engineer Kit focuses on better equipment usage.
Activation has mentioned that these Kits can be levelled up by earning Stars through missions and all three launch missions will be replayable. The game’s creator also recommends players complete all three Special Ops missions with three stars and have at least one Kit levelled up to Rank 5 before Raids releases in December.
