Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: Xbox, PC players can’t disable crossplay in the game
The newly released game doesn’t allow Xbox and PC users to disable crossplay. Earlier this year, Xbox and PC players faced similar issues with Call of Duty: Warzone where players were asked to re-enable the crossplay setting whenever they tried to return to the game after disabling it. However, this wasn’t the case with PlayStation players as they were able to seamlessly transition between crossplay modes.
In Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Activision has not even provided Xbox and PC players with an option to disable crossplay.
Xbox, PC forced crossplay issue
According to a report by The Verge’s Tom Warren, Activision is not allowing Xbox and PC players to disable crossplay which can be freely done on PlayStation. The Account and Network settings menu on Xbox and PCs don’t include a switch to disable crossplay.

However, a dedicated toggle to enable or disable crossplay is available for PlayStation players. Activision is yet to address the discrepancies regarding the forced crossplay system between Xbox and PlayStation.
The report mentions that there are temporary ways to patch the issue from the system settings of an Xbox console but they don’t work every time. Moreover, these workarounds often result in longer matchmaking queue times for Xbox players.
Xbox players have multiple reasons to demand an option to disable crossplay. Starting from keeping the cheaters away to avoiding the mobility advantages of mouse and keyboard available on PCs. Similarly, PC players also try evading controller users who can rely on features like auto aim or aim assist.
