CD Projekt Red may have plans for a new Witcher trilogy – Times of India

After the success of the Witcher game franchise as a whole, driven particularly by the most-profitable and successful of all three, The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, it was expected of Polish video game developer CD Projekt Red to carry on the legacy of the series in a new direction. Which they are certainly doing with the Witcher 4, a new saga currently in development. But the studio plans to mint some more money by building more Witcher games after the Witcher 4, as per a report by Eurogamer. And why not? The action RPG games from this franchise have helped CD Projekt Red make a name for itself and future Witcher games comes with the added recognition from people the world over, which should help with the sales as well.
When asked to elaborate on what the Polish game company meant by the word “saga” during CD Projekt’s latest earnings call, president and joint CEO Adam Kiciński said that “like the first saga was three games…we are in pre-production of the first game from the second Witcher saga.”, as per the report. CD Projekt Red is reportedly already “thinking about more than one game”.
So, now we know that the Witcher 4 (“The Witcher”, for now) is actually the start of a new saga for the series. Which is surely exciting news for fans of the Witcher games. Is this saga going to be a trilogy? We hope so. The new game will most likely not have Geralt as a playable character and may focus on the story of some other Witcher from a new, fictional School of the Lynx, probably, as the teaser image of the game showed a lynx medallion.
