Chatgpt: ChatGPT other AI models may worry Indian IT companies; but why not in the long run – Times of India

Generative AI models such as Open AI’s ChatGPT may hurt Indian IT companies in the short term, says a report by research firm JP Morgan. The report says that as generative AI is implemented more broadly, technology consulting companies like Accenture and Deloitte will gain market share over Indian IT companies like Infosys and Wipro in the near term. The analysts of the company said in a note to clients.
The research note further adds that generative AI can be a “deflation driver” in the near term on legacy services as they compete on pricing. These models may make it mandatory for organisations to go for employee retraining and drive loss of competitiveness, the note adds. In its note, JP Morgan says that among Indian IT companies, Infosys and TCS are likely to retrain their staff faster than smaller and several mid-sized companies due to their better graduate hiring and training infrastructure. As to what may be impacted the most as well as the least, JP Morgan report says, “ChatGPT is likely to deflate legacy services the most and application services the least.”
All’s also not well with AIs
While the Artificial intelligence company OpenAI’s chatbot ChatGPT has impressed both amateurs and industry experts, it and other similar chatbots and AI tools have their limitations. They are vulnerable to inaccurate information and bias. There have been cases where they have spewed out wrong information. Also, it is not easy to tailor these chatbots as per local needs and requirements. There may be certain local checks and crucial peculiarities that these AI chatbots are unlikely to be aware of and thus may end up giving wrong answers or imperfect end products.

Also, the technology is still in the early stages. It needs a lot of refinement and smoothen rough edges. There are also likely to be regulations, if not now then a few months or years down the line.
