chrome: Google Chrome to make it easier to capture and edit screenshots, here’s how you can enable the new features

Google recently added the ability to capture screenshots with the Chrome 94 update for the Android platform and now the tech giant is reportedly working to roll out a similar feature on Chrome browser for PC. As spotted by Techdows, the latest builds of Chrome 98 Canary have two flags available in chrome://flags that are related to screenshots. One enables taking screenshots from the desktop sharing hub and the second enables an edit flow for users who capture screenshots on Chrome browser. If you are using the latest Chrome 98 Canary, you can try the feature now.
To enable the Screenshot feature in Chrome, go to chrome://flags and search for Screenshots. In the dropdown for “Desktop Screenshots”, select Enabled. You’ll see a prompt to restart the browser, click on that. Once enabled, you will get a Share icon in the address bar.
How to take a screenshot on Chrome browser

  1. Click on the Share icon in the address bar and select Screenshots.
  2. Select the area that you want to capture through the mouse pointer.
  3. The image captured will be copied to clipboard. You can save the image by clicking on the Download button.

To enable Edit Mode for Screenshots in Chrome, go to chrome://flags and search for Edit Mode. In the dropdown for “Desktop Screenshots Edit Mode”, select Enabled. You’ll see a prompt to restart the browser, click on that.
How to use Edit Mode for Screenshots on Chrome browser

  1. Tap on the Share icon in the address bar and select Screenshots.
  2. Once you select the area that you want to capture. Tap on the Edit option on the prompt.
  3. When you tap on Edit, Chrome will take you to a new chrome://image-editor page. There you will find options to edit the captured Screenshot.

As of now, the new page is just a placeholder as the feature is currently under development.
