Google’s Chrome OS has been the operating system for most of entry-level laptops, which are usually called Chromebooks. It seems that Google is finally planning to rebrand its desktop operating system by dropping the space completely from the name.
Now, the operating system has been referred to as Chrome OS (two words), according to Google. However, there are instances where it has been referred to as one word ‘ChromeOS’.
Also, this has become a topic of debate among users and has also led to a bit of inconsistency among users. It seems that Google has finally decided to drop the space between Chrome and OS, according to the new code change that was posted.
According to the description, the new name change is intended to unify the name across the board. This will also bring the required consistency in the ChromeOS. However, it is not sure when Google will officially implement the change across the board, including website and other documents.
Google has clearly referred to the operating system as ChromeOS (one word). The reason behind that will be to unify and update Chrome OS to ChromeOS. This rebranding will also apply for Chromium OS to ChromiumOS as well.
As per the report, the new rebranding isn’t expected before the Chrome OS version 102, which is expected to launch sometime in May this year.
