Google showcased a couple of new features for Chrome OS earlier this year and now, the company has finally rolled out some of those features with the Chrome OS 103 update. The update is now rolling out and it brings much-awaited features like camera roll in Phone Hub, Nearby Share support and more.
Chrome OS 103 brings Android phone photos to Chromebooks
One of the most important features of the latest version of Chrome OS is the addition of Android smartphone’s camera roll in the Phone Hub. The Phone Hub in the Chrome OS is already home to several key features related to the Android smartphones. For example, users can check notifications, view recent Chrome tabs, toggle quick settings and more.
With the latest update, users can now view their camera roll in the hub as well. Although it only shows the first four rows of the Recent photos section, including screenshots, users can simply click on them to download on their laptop without hunting for a data cable or a Wi-Fi hotspot. The sync process takes place in the background even when the Chromebook is turned off.
Password sharing via Nearby Share
Phone Hub isn’t the only thing that has been updated with Chrome OS 103. The update also adds the ability to share Wi-Fi password using Nearby Share feature. Users can now use Nearby share on their Android smartphone to share Wi-Fi passwords with their Chromebooks to quickly connect it with the Wi-Fi network.
Fast Pair support to arrive later
Along with the new updates, Google has also confirmed an upcoming feature as well. The company has confirmed that the Fast Pair feature will be coming to Chromebooks with a future update later this year.
For those who don’t know Fast Pair allows users to quickly connect the compatible Bluetooth devices. It also link the Bluetooth device with Google account so that it can work on other Google-linked devices as well.
