Chromecast with Google TV 4K receives Android 12 update: What has changed – Times of India

The first update that Google rolled out for Chromecast with Google TV 4K in 2022 was the May security patch that was released in July. Now, the tech giant has started rolling out a new update for the streaming device. The new update ships with the build number STTE.220621.019.A2.9082754 and has a size of 722MB. This new update will not only upgrade the device from Android TV OS 10 to 12 but will also add the July 2022 security patch to it.
Recently, Google has also launched the less expensive HD model of Chromecast with Google TV. It is a toned-down version of the Chromecast with Google TV that offers video streaming in up to 4K HDR at up to 60 frames per second. It was first launched in the international markets in 2020 and was brought to India earlier this year.

The highlight of this new update is a security feature that will allow users to enable or disable camera and microphone access for all apps. This new update comes with toggles for users to do the same.

Google has also mentioned that this new update also includes more settings that will allow users to control surround sound and HDR format. Meanwhile, users will also get an option to “match content frame rate” with this new update.
Apart from this, the new Android 12 update for Chromecast with Google TV 4K also includes other bug fixes and performance improvements.
After installing the update, users have to unpair the Chromecast Voice Remote from their phone and have to reconnect it from Settings. The re-pairing speed of the Voice Remote has reportedly increased and no separate update has been released for the remote controller, reports 9to5Google.
