Chromecast with Google TV ‘Pro’ reportedly under the works

Google is reportedly working on a new Chromecast with Google TV, reports 9to5Google. If the report is to be believed, the new Chromecast could be the third addition to the lineup of Chromecast with Google TV, which comes in two – HD and 4K – models.
9to5Google dug into the source code of the preview update for the Google Home app, finding references to a new Google TV device, referred to as ‘“YTC,” and it is mentioned to be a “Chromecast with Google TV” in the code. The previous models of Chromecast with Google TV are referred to as“YTC” and “YTB” for the 4K and HD, respectively.
Not much is known about the said Chromecast with Google TV. However, this could be a replacement for the original Chromecast with Google TV 4K, which launched in 2020.
What to expect from the upcoming Chromecast with Google TV
In the previous versions of Chromecast with Google TV, there were some limitations to keep the cost down. One of the complaints has been the limited storage on both models, so we can expect Google to increase the internal storage. Also, one can expect an option for expandable storage. The new model might also offer support for AV1 decoding, allowing for a higher-quality stream, as Google has recently been pushing AV1 adoption in Android and Android TV devices.
As of now, there is confirmation of the launch of a new Chromecast with Google TV. Neither the specifications nor features are known to anyone. Google may announce the said third model of Chromecast at I/O this year. But, we suggest taking this with a pinch of salt until more details emerge.
The Chromecast with Google TV HD currently retails in India for Rs 4,355, while the Chromecast with Google TV 4K is priced at Rs 6,387. Both devices are available for purchase at Flipkart.
