Microsoft has announced that it has started to roll out the Clipchamp app for Windows 11 users. Currently the app is only available for users who are enrolled in the Dev Channel of Windows Insider program. For those who do not know, Clipchamp is a video editing app that was acquired by Microsoft in September last year. It is a browser-based app that is equipped with all the basic tools you would expect in an editing app such as trimming and splitting, transitions, animated text and others. For real-time content capture, there are also built-in webcam and screen recorders.
Several reports suggest that the Clipchamp app may be a replacement for the Windows Movie Makers app. Clipchamp is preferred by users as it offers a timeline view for editing just like professional video editing apps such as the Adobe Premiere Pro.
As revealed in the company’s official blog, Clipchamp app in Windows 11 will offer a stock library filled with more than a million royalty-free videos, audio tracks, and images that can be added to videos. There’s also an Azure-powered text-to-speech generator capable of creating voice overs in more than 70 languages. And, speaking of Microsoft integrations, Clipchamp also connects with OneDrive, meaning you can import files and save videos quickly and securely.
The tech giant says that Clipchamp is an ‘inbox’ Windows 11 app. This means that the app will be pre-installed on all new devices that run Windows 11 OS. As mentioned earlier, the feature is only available to a limited number of Windows 11 users. But it is expected that the company will release the feature for more users with the upcoming updates. Apart from this, the company has also rolled out a new Microsoft Family inbox app with the latest Windows 11 build for users in the Dev Channel.
