Communities, Avatars and three other recently launched features on WhatsApp

Meta-owned instant messaging platform — WhatsApp has received a slew of new features and updates this year to make users’ experience better. This includes both bigger features like communities and smaller features up to 2GB file transfer support, bigger group size and more. Among others, here are the top five WhatsApp features that should know about.
WhatsApp Communities
WhatsApp finally rolled out the new Communities feature on the platform. Think of this as the extension of WhatsApp groups which provides users with more structure and organisation for conversations among groups, allowing people to focus on what’s important.
Communities are made up of different existing or new WhatsApp groups. Users can choose to club multiple groups under one community of the same interest.
Steps: Open WhatsApp → Tap on Communities icon (three-person logo) → Start Community.

WhatsApp Avatar
Meta has finally added its virtual bitmoji-style customisable virtual characters — Avatars — on WhatsApp. This allows users to create their own digital avatars and convert them into different stickers to express themselves better or use them as profile pictures. Message Yourself
Another interesting and useful feature WhatsApp has received this year is support for self-messages. It is basically a 1:1 chat with yourself and it let users send notes, reminders and updates as needed. Users also have the option to share photos, videos, files, documents, etc.
All you need to do is Open WhatsApp → New chat → Tap on your own contact card (referred to as You) and start messaging.

Support for 2GB file sharing
WhatsApp also increases the file sharing size limit to 2GB from 16 GB. This makes it easier for users to share large files, videos, and documents using the platform.
New admin controls for groups
To reduce clutter on WhatsApp groups, the company added a couple of new admin controls that allow them to manage groups better. One of these features is the ability to restrict others from posting on the group except admin.
Head to WhatsApp group chat → click on group subject → Group Settings → Send messages → Choose Only Admins.
