Disney Plus Hotstar new plans
The servie will adopt these new prices starting September 1. The new Rs 499/year plan will be a mobile-only offering and will allow subscribers to stream on one mobile device in HD quality. With this plan, you won’t be able to stream on other platforms like the Disney Plus Hotstar desktop site, TV apps, or more.
The service will also introduce a new Rs 899 “Super” plan. This will give Disney Plus Hotstar subscribers a year’s worth of access and the ability to stream on two devices in HD.
Finally, a Rs 1,499 “Premium” plan will allow subscribers to stream in 4K on up to four devices.
If you are already on Disney+ Hotstar Premium, not much will change for you. However, you will now be able to stream on four devices simultaneously instead of two.
“With the newly introduced subscription plans, we want to make our content more accessible to our viewers by offering best-in-class entertainment while giving them an opportunity to choose the plan that best suits their needs,” Sunil Rayan, President & Head, Disney+ Hotstar, said in a press release.
What will happen to the VIP plan?
The revised plans mean that the streaming service is getting rid of its current Rs 399 VIP plan that allows subscribers to watch all content on the service except for American shows and movies.
The monthly Rs 299 premium plan that includes access to all Hotstar and Disney Plus original content, in addition to content from HBO, Fox, and Showtime, is also likely getting the ax.
However, the good news is that all the new Disney Plus Hotstar plans will allow subscribers to stream the service’s entire catalog without any restrictions. So you’ll be able to watch premium content, including Disney Plus originals, on all the plans, unlike before.
