Don’t expect QHD+ screens for Galaxy S23, S23 Plus next year

TL;DR
- A leaker has revealed apparent dimensions and screen information for the Galaxy S23 series.
- The phones are expected to feature the same screen sizes and resolutions as the S22 line.
- That means only the S23 Ultra could get a QHD+ screen.
We’ve already heard a few Galaxy S23 series rumors in the last few months, but a frequent tipster has now given us apparent screen details and dimensions for Samsung’s 2023 flagship phones.
Leaker Ice Universe posted Galaxy S23 series screen details on Weibo (h/t: GSMArena), asserting that the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus will have 6.1-inch and 6.6-inch screen sizes respectively. Unfortunately for those hoping for a return to QHD+ resolutions, the tipster claims that both phones will have FHD+ screens (2,340 × 1,080).
Meanwhile, the leaker adds that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will maintain a 6.8-inch screen with a QHD+ resolution (3,088 x 1,440).

Ice Universe also reported apparent dimensions for the Galaxy S23 series, and it looks like little is changing here compared to the S22 series. The base model will purportedly measure in at 146.3 x 70.9 x 7.6mm, the Galaxy S23 Plus is expected to measure 157.8 x 76.2 x 7.6mm, while the S23 Ultra could measure 163.4 x 78.1 x 8.9 mm.
This could be good news in some ways, as we thought Samsung did a great job with the S22 and S22 Plus sizes in the first place. However, similar dimensions mean you shouldn’t expect a significant battery capacity upgrade, if at all. Conversely, we felt that the Galaxy S22 Ultra was a bulky device, so those wanting a slightly smaller Ultra phone next year will be disappointed.
