Dream mobile phone would have ‘drunk text filter’ and uncrackable screen, research finds

More than a quarter want their phone to automatically sift through their photos and delete duplicates, and half would love a universal caller ID.

Other phone goals include a social media lock that kicks in after too much scrolling, and being able to “gift” leftover data to charity.

And more than a quarter would like their handset to be able to reject any phone contract price hikes.

But the research commissioned by Tesco Mobile found only 39 percent currently own their “dream” phone.

The top barrier to having the ultimate phone was found to be price for 71 percent, while 16 percent claim it’s because they’re tied into a contract.

It also emerged two thirds of adults “couldn’t live” without their mobile, and on average people spend 55 minutes a week talking on their phone.

Rachel Swift at Tesco Mobile said: “It’s amazing when you think about how much phones have changed over the years and what they’re now capable of.

“So it’s fun to hear what people want from their phone in the future, and importantly what their dream phone looks like today.

“By rolling out Clubcard Prices at Tesco Mobile, it means a dream phone is no longer out of reach.”

TOP 10 THINGS BRITS WOULD ADD TO THEIR “DREAM PHONE”:

  1. Tell you who’s calling – even if you don’t recognise the number
  2. An uncrackable screen
  3. Charge wirelessly from anywhere
  4. Allow you to get things, like food shopping, cheaper
  5. Automatically reject any phone contract price hikes
  6. Automatically sort through images to delete duplicates
  7. Gift leftover data to a charity of your choice
  8. Have a “drunk text” filter – so you can’t send drunk texts
