Dropbox users facing this AirDrop issue on macOS Ventura: What is it – Times of India
How is this bug affecting users
Multiple users have reported this issue on the official Dropbox forums. According to a report by 9to5Mac, users complained that the latest version of Dropbox’s macOS app has been causing problems whenever they try to send or receive files using AirDrop. Some users have also reported losing files permanently as they deleted the original files from their phones after AirDropping them.
Another user claimed that the problem is caused due to Dropbox moving the user’s main folders such as Documents, Desktop, and Downloads to another location on the local disk. Others mentioned that they were able to use AirDrop with Dropbox only after disabling the backup feature. As per the report, a company representative has asked users to share more details about the bug on the forum so that it can investigate it.
How Dropbox may solve this issue
In 2022, a macOS update affected Dropbox support due to some internal system changes made by Apple. Later on, Dropbox announced a beta version of its Mac app that was compatible with macOS Monterey and later. However, this version is yet to be released to the general public.
The report claims that Dropbox is now notifying users that it will start rolling out an official update in the coming months that will arrive with full support for macOS Monterey 12.5 and later. Users who are interested in getting this new version can also join Dropbox’s beta program. The company says that eligible users will receive a notification from the Dropbox icon in their menu bar.
