EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three customers could be tempted by rival’s latest price promise

There’s a great reason for EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three Mobile users to make the switch to a new network. That’s because one rival has promised not to increase prices mid-way through a contract. This year looks set to trigger a cost of living crisis, with energy prices set to surge by an extra £700 and inflation hitting the highest levels not seen in over 30 years. The latter will trigger a torrent of price rises from broadband and mobile providers, with firms like EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three using inflation levels to calculate yearly price rises.

As such, customers can expect to pay almost 10 percent more with each of their monthly bills. However, bucking this trend is mobile operator SMARTY – with the firm promising customers (both new and existing users) that it won’t increase prices mid-contract.

SMARTY, whose 4G and 5G services are powered by the Three Network, said this news comes in the face of rising costs across the board for consumers.

Elin Mclean, general manager at SMARTY, said: “Almost everyone is feeling the effects of cost increases at the moment and, in a promise to remain true to our SMARTY values, we only want to make things simpler. So, we are standing out from the crowd and making a commitment that SMARTY has never and will not to introduce RPI annual price rises. It’s time to do mobile the right way!”

If you’re thinking of joining SMARTY, the “simple, honest” mobile provider has a range of bargain SIM-only deals.

You can join SMARTY from just £6 a month, and for that price you’ll get 4GB of 4G and 5G data to use as well as unlimited texts and calls. SMARTY is also throwing in 10GB of free data on its 30GB and 50GB plans.

These SIMs usually cost £10 a month or £15 a month respectively, but for this price you’ll instead get 40GB or 60GB of monthly data. The top-tier plan is the unlimited data SIM which costs £20 a month.

You’ll also get access to EU roaming, meaning you can use your data when travelling abroad in Europe at no extra cost. This is a great added benefit as EE, Vodafone and Three are all bringing back EU roaming charges this year. Out of the big four, O2 is the only firm that isn’t re-introducing EU roaming fees.
