In a thread of tweets, Musk said, “Twitter will soon add [the] ability to attach long-form text to tweets, ending [the] absurdity of notepad screenshots.” Currently, the microblogging platform offers users a 280-character limit for a tweet. In case there is a longer message, users either create a thread of tweets or share images of the notepad in which the long-form message is written.
With the ability to attach long-form text, users are likely to complete their tweets and messages in a single tweet. However, there are no details – such as the new character limit for text – have been made public.
Monetisation of text pieces
A Twitter user asked Musk whether people will be able to subscribe and/or donate to pieces of writing like this. To this, the new Twitter boss replied, “Absolutely.” Another user asked whether this feature will be called “Twitter Notes“, to which Musk replied, “Something Like that.”
The social media platform is currently testing Twitter Write, its composer tool that enables writers to create stories and other long-form content, called Notes, for their followers to engage with. Twitter also allows creators to make “Professional Accounts” with a wide range of tools to help them have a unique, clearly defined presence on the platform and the ability to grow as well as strengthen their presence on Twitter.
Twitter removes Blue’s Ad-Free Articles perk
Recently, Twitter announced that it is stripping one of the best perks of the Blue subscription: ad-free articles. Reports suggested that Twitter sent a message to publishers saying the company “will stop displaying the ‘Twitter Blue Publisher’ label on any Tweets containing your articles. We will no longer be sending a Twitter Blue token when people on Twitter access articles from your properties. This will prevent the ad-free experience on your site from loading,” the company was quoted as saying.
