Musk’s tweet came a few minutes after he noted that Apple has mostly stopped advertising on Twitter. “Do they hate free speech in America? What’s going on here @tim_cook?” the executive asked. He soon mounted his attack on the company by sharing multiple tweets that criticised Apple for its “monopoly.”

Musk posts censorship poll
In his now famous style of asking what Twitter users have on their mind, Musk tweeted another poll seeking people’s take on whether “Apple should publish all censorship actions it has taken that affect its customers?” At the time of writing this report, people who want Apple to disclose all censorship actions outvoted those who don’t want it by a wide margin.

Elon Musk on “Apple tax”
In the past, Musk has been among the critics who have called out Apple for charging 30% on all purchases made on the App Store. In his recent attack, the Tesla CEO again pointed out Apple’s policy. Musk then shared a meme suggesting that Twitter will not pay a 30% cut and would “go to war” with the company.

Musk hints at ‘alternative’ phone to iPhone, Android
The development comes two days after Twitter’s top executive claimed that he would make an alternative phone.
“If Apple & Google boot Twitter from their app stores, @elonmusk should produce his own smartphone. Half the country would happily ditch the biased, snooping iPhone & Android. The man builds rockets to Mars, a silly little smartphone should be easy, right?”
To this Musk replied, “ I certainly hope it does not come to that, but, yes, if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone.”
By this statement, he already hinted that he wanted to “go to war” with both Apple and Google who ask app developers to pay a certain commission on all in-app transactions.
Twitter will again roll out the Twitter Blue or Verified Blue feature where users will have to pay $8 to get the perks of the service. Since users will have to make an in-app purchase of the subscription, Twitter will have to pay some commission to Apple and Google. With the ‘go to war’ meme mentioned above, it seems Musk has decided what he will do. How Apple — or for that matter Google — responds to the ‘threat’ will be an interesting development to follow and remains to be seen.
