Elon Musk’s latest email comes as a warning to ‘low performers’ at Twitter: All the details

Midnight emails from their new boss is becoming a rather common thing for Twitter employees. According to Platformer’s Zoë Schiffer, Elon Musk sent out another late night email to Twitter employees. In the email, as per Schiffer, Musk told employees what his expectations were from managers, software engineers and others.

Shape up or ship out

In the email, Musk told managers to “identify low performers on a regular basis”, said Schiffer in a tweet. Employees will have up to four weeks to improve or they will be asked to leave.
That’s not it as Musk made it clear that software engineers and managers will be expected to write code every week. “Analytics, documentation…& helping teammates are considered a fundamental part of the job but not a replacement for writing code,” Musk wrote in the email. He further said that, “Lines of code are not the most important metric, deleting a line of code is more valuable than adding one.”
A recent report by Bloomberg highlighted how Musk met a number of Twitter employees, including developers. Musk asked the developers to offer bullet-point explanations of the coding accomplishments they have achieved during the last six months. The company’s new owner also asked the software developers to share up to 10 screenshots of the most important lines of code running on Twitter. Musk explained that this meeting will help him to get a better understanding of the company’s tech situation.
A few days ago, Musk sent an email to all employees and asked them to show what they have accomplished in the last 10 days. And now comes a warning. It won’t be a surprise to see Twitter headcount reducing further as Musk has been culling the workforce rather drastically.
