Samsung has successfully hosted its second Unpacked event of 2021, which was star-studded with a couple of foldable smartphones, TWS earphones, and smartwatches. That’s right, no Samsung Galaxy Note-series smartphone this year. Instead, Samsung has announced Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, the successor to last year’s Fold 2 and Flip 5G. Both phones come with the latest specifications, such as the Snapdragon 888 SoC and 120Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is the company’s most affordable foldable phone.  Here is everything you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Buds 2, and Galaxy Watch 3.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 carries the same design language as its predecessor; however, its internals has been upgraded to offer better performance. The handset is powered by Exynos 2100 SoC (Snapdragon 888 in the US and China) coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB/ 256GB fast UFS 3.1 storage. The phone sports 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity primary display that bends in half (vertically) from the centre and bears a 120Hz refresh rate. The secondary display of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is 1.9-inch tall. It’s a Super AMOLED type with 260x512p resolution and 302 PPI.

The handset is IPX8 water-resistant and sports aluminium frame and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Other features include dual 12MP cameras at the back, a 10MP selfie camera, 5G connectivity, a 3,300mAh dual battery, and Android 11-based One UI 3.1 OS. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 is priced at $999 (approx. Rs 74,000). The handset comes in a variety of colour options, including Cream, Green, Lavender, Phantom Black, Gray, White, and Pink.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 continues to be the company’s premium foldable smartphone. The handset comes with a wallet-breaking $1,799 (approx. Rs 1,33,500) price tag. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 specifications are as follows: Exynos 2100/ Snapdragon 888 SoC, 6.2-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover display, and 7.6-inch QXGA Dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex primary display. Both screens come with 120Hz refresh rate and punch-hole for the selfie cameras. The primary display is backed by hinge support that allows the user to conveniently fold the phone in half horizontally.

In optics, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 packs a 12MP triple camera setup at the back, a 10MP camera atop the cover display, and a 4MP camera on the primary display. The handset is driven by a 4,000mAh battery. It’s IPX8 water resistance certified and the first in line to offer S Pen support.

Samsung Galaxy Buds2

Samsung has also refreshed its TWS earphones series lineup with the launch of Galaxy Buds2. The earphones come in new colour options and a squarish charging case. The design and battery life of the earbuds remain the same as Buds Pro. The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 are said to offer up to five hours of continuous playback and up to 7.5 hours with active noise cancellation (ANC) off between charges. The earbuds ANC support three adjustable ambient sound levels. The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 are IPX8 water resistance certified, which means you can take them out in the rain. Each earbud packs dynamic two-way speakers to deliver crisp and clear high notes and deep bass.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series

Samsung’s new wearable comes in two variants: a regular Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The latter is a step-up version of the regular Galaxy Watch 4, with a chunkier design and rotating bezel that looks similar to last year’s Watch 3. Both variants will be available in two sizes: 40mm and 44mm. The 40mm size features a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display, with a full-colour Always-On display and Corning Gorilla Glass with DX+, while the 44mm variant packs a slightly bigger 1.4-inch screen with similar specs. With the Galaxy Watch 4 series, Samsung is ditching its Tizen OS for the all-new One UI Watch based on the new Wear OS. The company promises an average battery life of 40 hours for the new smartwatches that rock the new 5nm Exynos W920 processor paired with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.

On the fitness front, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series touts sleep tracking, fall detection, menstrual cycle tracker, SpO2 tracking, ECG, optical heart rate sensor (PPG), electrical heart rate sensor, and a host of sports modes. The wearables are IP68 water-resistance certified and come with standard connectivity options such as 4G LTE (optional), dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ Glonass/ Beidou/ Galileo, and NFC. Lastly, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic both will work with devices running at least Android 6.0 and have more than 1.5GB of RAM.

Special Thom Browne edition

Lastly, Samsung has also announced a special Thom Browne edition of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, and Galaxy Buds 2. They sport the same specifications as the regular variants, but the devices are being offered with signature Thom Browne brand colours and other customised accessories.
