Explained: How OnePlus has made 150W fast charging safer ensuring battery health in the longer run – Times of India

Fast charging, a term which has become one of the core features in most modern smartphones and is also one of the sought-after features when buying a new smartphone. OnePlus has recently introduced its latest OnePlus 10T 5G smartphone globally. While it brings a slew of new features such as Qualcomm’s flagship chip, 16GB RAM and more. The 150W SuperVooC Endurance Edition charging and all the technologies associated with it caught our attention.
For those who are not aware, fast charging speed comes at a cost and its own set of risks. For instance, charging a battery with that speed could deplete its life faster than imaginable. Also, there’s a risk of something going seriously wrong with it. However, OnePlus has managed to iron them out with its 150W SuperVooC Endurance Edition.
At the keynote OnePlus thoroughly explained what precautions and features they have included in the OnePlus 10T to make 150W fast charging a safe bet while ensuring that the battery would last long. The company also emphasised a lot on their Batter Health Engine (BHE) which ensures safe charging operations in the smartphone. Let us explain.
However, before diving too deep let’s take a look at claimed figures from OnePlus. As per the company, the 150W fast charging technology will take around 17 minutes to fully charge OnePlus 10T’s 4500mAh battery and in 10 minutes it charges up to 70 per cent.
Battery Health Engine (BHE) is the key
For starters, the company mentioned that they have used some engineering designs to reduce the heat emission front the battery. The handset, according to the company, comes with 13 temperature sensors along with a custom charging chip. They ensure the best safety and keep the temperature in check while charging.
The handset also comes with 128-bit encryption that detects the suitable cable for charging speeds for added safety.
In addition to that, the company also highlighted the Battery Health Engine which comes with two main features — Smart Battery Health Algorithm and Battery Healing Technology.
The technology ensures that the phone is getting optimal charging current and it is not exceeding the recommended range for extended battery life. Also, it preserves the battery capacity for a longer lifespan.
Smart charging features are also a part of the setup
OnePlus has mentioned that the smartphone comes with a dual charge pump which means there are two charging pumps rated at 75W each to charge the device. This helps in reducing the heat emission while charging or at least lesser than what a 150W single charging pump would have generated.
