The Game Awards is an annual awards ceremony that recognises the achievements of the global video gaming industry and honours the biggest titles. This will be the ninth edition of the event which was first held in 2014. The awards ceremony will take place on December 8 at 7:30 pm ET at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. Gamers across the US and Canada and select cities around the world can physically take part in the event. The Game Awards showcases — major video games, upcoming game announcements, world premieres of upcoming games and film footage, surprise appearances, musical performances, and more. Last year’s Game Awards recorded 85 million global live streams.

Video games from across the globe will be awarded in 31 different categories. Enthusiasts can currently vote for their favourite games from the event’s official website.

Some of the nominees include major titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarok, Apex Legends, Horizon Forbidden West, Stray, Sifu, Scorn, A Plague Tale: Requiem and more.
The Game Awards 2022: Tie-ups
The company has teamed up with Discord which will allow fans to vote in all categories. Valve is also the gifting partner of this year’s event. Viewers who watch the award ceremony on Steam will be offered a chance to win a Steam Deck sponsored by Valve. Game Awards 2022 has also partnered with other partners like IMAX and Truth.

The Game Awards 2022: What to expect
According to a report by ET, renowned developer Hideo Kojima is expected to be at the Games award. Apart from this, multiple studios are also likely to showcase some major upcoming titles including — Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Blizzard Entertainment‘s Diablo 4 and Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 16.
