Far Cry 6: Far Cry 6: Here’s how PC will have an edge over consoles

If you are thinking of purchasing Far Cry 6 on PC, there is some edge you are going to have over those who will play on consoles as the PC version would support both ray tracing and AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), both of which will be PC-exclusive, as per a report by Wccftech, based upon an interaction with Ubisoft 3D team lead programmer Stephanie Brenham. The two features won’t be there for the console as the priority there would be getting 60FPS at 4K.
As per Brenham, employing hybrid ray-traced reflections, using DXR (DirectX Raytracing) and SSLR (screen space local reflections), reportedly allows them “to support DXR even on mid-range hardware. This way players can enjoy ray tracing in scenarios where it’s impossible to use SSLR due to technology limitations.”
As for AMD’s FidelityFX toolkit, the FSR, Brenham reportedly said that the open-world game will use “custom denoiser” for its ray-traced reflections and shadows. They also mentioned that FSR was developed for PC after partnering with AMD which could mean that Nvidia’s DLSS won’t be coming to Far Cry 6.
Here is a new trailer for the game with actor Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Antón Castillo, in the focus.

Far Cry is set to launch on October 7. The game will come with some free post-launch content like the Crossover Missions which will add the likes of characters from other universes like Danny Trejo, a Rambo fan in Rambo: All The Blood and Stranger Things. Yara, the fictional land where the story of the game takes place, would turn into the ‘upside-down’ land in The Vanishing mission.
