Fitbit Charge 5’s receives a helpful feature with the latest update

Fitbit released the Charge 5 in India in August 2021. The fitness band has now received a new update that adds an important feature that was previously exclusive to the company’s range of smartwatches. According to a report by 9toGoogle, Fitbit has widely rolled out the “Find Phone” capability which also might be the only addition that was spotted in the new update, version 1.171.50 (from 1.149.11). The report mentions that the product has neither received new clock faces nor the Relax app that helps in guided breathing. However, the new update includes EDA Scan that helps in measuring the body’s response to stress, the report suggests.
Key requirements for the “Find Phone” feature
The report has also mentioned some key requirements that are essential for the “Find Phone” feature to work in Fitbit Charge 5. Firstly, the wearable has to be paired to the phone you want to locate and the handset must be switched on, have its Bluetooth turned on and be within 30 feet (10m) of the Fitbit device. Moreover, the phone needs to have the Fitbit app running in the background as well.
How does the feature work
As per the report, the new feature can be found “between Screen Wake and Water Lock when swiping down from the clock face.” Tapping the icon will open an app that will have the “Find Phone” option which when pressed will emit a loud tone on the paired device. Then, the users get a “Cancel” button to stop the tone.
Earlier, this feature was available on the Sense, Versa 3, and other Fitbit smartwatches. The report also states that the latest update is also expected to include bug fixes to a phone connectivity issue that “some owners were experiencing with the wearable” However, the company has not published the release note yet.
