Flipkart takes shopping to Metaverse: How to buy in the ‘Flipverse’ – Times of India

At a time when global companies are betting big on metaverse, Walmart-backed Flipkart has come with “Flipverse” – the e-commerce company’s virtual shopping experience. Flipkart wants its users to discover and shop new products by using their avatar. It says that the platform will allow consumers “to get closer to their favourite brands in a metaverse where the communication runs two ways.”
What is Flipverse
Flipverse is a metaverse space where consumers can discover products in a gamified and interactive way by giving them access to their brands, Supercoins and digital collectibles on the Flipkart app. It is created using eDAO’s Web3 tech stack and will be available on Flipkart’s newly-launched platform, FireDrops, which can be accessed from the e-commerce platform’s app.
“The launch of Flipverse will continue to have an impact on innovative industries like e-commerce and enhance the customer experience while delivering a gamified and an immersive shopping experience, especially in light of the adoption of the metaverse and web3 platforms by multiple brands in India,” said Naren Ravula, VP and Head, Product Strategy and Deployment, Flipkart Labs.
Flipverse pilot experience is live on the company’s Android app and users can check it out by October 23.

What brands will be available in Flipverse
Brands such as Puma, Noise, Nivea, Lavie, Tokyo Talkies, Campus, VIP, Ajmal Perfumes, Himalaya, and Butterfly India, among others will be participating in the phase one of Flipverse.
“Flipverse will enable a multiverse of brands to create unique product launches, discovery and inspiring experiences to attract and engage users. At the same time, it will give brands the ability to generate and create their metaverse-ready digital twin in the virtual world. The digital twin can then experience brands’ products, win offers and claim digital collectibles that unlock unique experiences and offers,” the company added.
How to enter and shopin Flipverse

Open https://firedrops.flipkart.com/qr-page.html on your PC.
Click “Enter Flipverse” and scan the code shown on your screen. The experience works better with Wi-Fi connection.
You will be redirected to the FireDrops app. Choose a username. Tap on the menu, and select Flipverse.
Soon your avatar will be placed in the metaverse. The metaverse will look like a big hall wherein products from Noise, Ajmal Perfumes, and Puma, among other brands will be displayed.
You can roam around using on-screen controls and tap on the product to know more about it. You can even check out offers available on Flipkart.
