Galaxy Buds 2 Pokemon edition launched, sells out in a flash

TL;DR

  • Samsung has launched a Pokemon-themed Galaxy Buds 2 package in Korea.
  • This package comes with the Galaxy Buds 2 as well as a Poke Ball carrying case.
  • It’s already sold out after going on sale in its home market.

Samsung launched a Galaxy Z Flip 3 Pokemon Edition in Korea last month, selling out within five minutes. Now, the company is back with a new Pokemon-themed product, and it’s sold out in no time flat as well.

The Galaxy phone maker released the Galaxy Buds 2 Pokemon Monster Ball Cover Package (according to machine-translation) in Korea today, the Maeil Economic Daily reported. However, the outlet reports that the special edition earbuds sold out in less than an hour, adding that it may have actually sold out in five to 20 minutes.

As the product name implies, this special edition Galaxy Buds 2 offers a Poke Ball case for the true wireless earbuds (it’s also compatible with the Galaxy Buds Live and Galaxy Buds Pro). In saying so, the Poke Ball doesn’t actually replace the standard charging case, so you can leave the special edition cover at home and only carry the standard case if you want.

The special edition Galaxy Buds 2 package also comes with one of 11 Pokemon stickers, but that’s all you’re getting. So you’re not getting as many goodies as the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Pokemon Edition, which came with several extras such as a clear cover, pouch, phone ring, and more.

Samsung’s Pokemon-themed Galaxy Buds 2 package has a retail price of 134,000 won (~$106). By comparison, the standard Buds 2 currently retails for 119,000 won (~$94).
