Gboard: Google tests new design for Gboard app on Android: Here’s what’s new – Times of India
Gboard latest version: Availability
According to a report by AndroidPolice, the latest features are now available in Gboard’s latest beta update, version 12.6.06.491625702. However, there might be a server-side part to the rollout limiting access. Interested users can add themselves to the beta channel by tapping the ‘Join’ button on Gboard’s Play Store listing.
Gboard latest version: What’s new
Earlier, users had to tap a three-dot menu icon near the top-right corner of the keyboard to access Gboard’s toolbar. The toolbar allowed users to customise the buttons in the app. Now, this option has been moved to the left edge of the menu bar. The option has also been replaced with a button that has four squares with rounded corners. The report has also shared screenshots to describe the new change.
The latest version of Gboard even has a redesigned menu button which includes an emoji option and a language switcher. These options weren’t previously available in the menu section. The revamped app also allows users to rearrange the icons by dragging them around. Users will be able to choose how these icons will appear in this overflow menu.
Moreover, the new app will also enable users to add or move items from the quick access toolbar. Users will be able to customise the positions of the options to choose where they will appear when the keyboard is opened for the first time.
Gboard’s latest version will also let users add as many shortcuts as they would like to the quick access toolbar. Previously, it was limited to four options. Apart from this, users can also drag any item into the voice search button slot to replace the microphone icon with a custom entry.
