If you pick up a Google Pixel 6 from Currys today, you’ll also get yourself a Nest Hub thrown in entirely for free. This limited time promotion is part of the Currys Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale, and offers a saving of almost £90 (with the second gen Nest Hub usually costing £89.99). This makes the Pixel 6 – arguably the most exciting phone Google has ever made – an even more enticing prospect this Black Friday season.
The Google Pixel 6 is a far cry from the previous flagship, the Pixel 5, which was a functional phone – in design and specs – that Google said was designed for an “economic downturn”. That phone was priced at £599 in the UK, and incredibly the Pixel 6 – which has a much more exciting spec sheet and design – is available for the same cost SIM-free right now.
This is despite the fact that the Pixel 6 is a serious step-up compared to the Pixel 5 in almost every way. It boasts a gorgeous new design, with a distinct camera bump combined with new soft colour schemes on the rear panel that will turn plenty of heads, and is also fitted with Google’s first-ever custom silicon, the Tensor chip.
This direct rival to Apple’s A Bionic range is packed full of AI and machine learning benefits that should enhance all aspects of the Pixel 6’s everyday use.
The Pixel 6 first hit shelves back in October. Google has promised that it will keep its smartphone updated with the latest version of Android for the next three years, so you’ll be able to test out the latest camera tricks, new software designs and apps for a good while to come.
As for the freebie, the Nest Hub second generation device, like the Pixel 6, was also released this year, and brings with it some big improvements over its predecessor.
The latest version of Google’s smart home hub will make music you stream on the device sound much better, as it offers 50 percent more base than the first Nest Hub.
But the big headline addition with the 2021 Nest Hub is Sleep Sensing.
This uses sound and motion tracking to analyse the sleep patterns of the person closest to the device. Once you wake up you can ask “Hey Google, how did I sleep last night?” which will give you a report on how well you rested.
You will also be able to get feedback on your bedroom’s light and atmosphere, so you can find out if you need to make any changes to help you sleep better.
Like its predecessor, the second-generation Nest Hub will also let you stream your favourite Netflix shows and YouTube channels on the device’s seven-inch LCD touchscreen.
You’ll also be able to use the Nest Hub to act as a control centre for all your smart home devices and to also ask Assistant any burning questions that pop into your head.
If you don’t want to purchase a Pixel 6, but are interested in the Nest Hub, then you can also pick up the smart home gadget at a reduced price on its own. Currys has slashed the cost of the latest Nest Hub from £89.99 to £59.99 for the Black Friday season.
